Yorkshire Doggy Day Care – A Christmas Tail
Hello everyone, its Betty and Nelly here (although you might know us better as the Schnacks!) I know that you’ve been waiting for our dog blog for a long time, but we wanted to wait until the festive season to star in our very own story! This ‘tail’ is a Yorkshire Doggy Day Care spectacular about two excited pups and their Auntie Lucy, and their search for the most perfect Christmas of all.
Betty – You might want to get a tissue for this one, it’s a tear jerker!
Yorkshire Doggy Day Care – A Christmas Tail
The dewy grass tickled our feet as Auntie Lucy took us on our morning walk along the River Bank. Tadcaster is always pretty and peaceful in the Winter, and we love strolling down the River Wharfe and chit-chatting about what we’ve got planned for the day ahead. Everything was going fine until we heard a couple of geese talking about Christmas.
“It’s only three weeks away now you know!” said one to the other. “We’d better start collecting the holly soon, or there’ll be none left for behind the picture of your mother on the mantlepiece!”
We looked at each other and gasped; Christmas is just around the corner, and we haven’t even started preparing for it! We’ve been so busy enjoying ourselves in the hustle and bustle of the Tadcaster Doggy Day Care scene that we’d completely forgotten about the big fat man coming down the chimney! What were we going to do?!
Auntie Lucy To The Rescue
We yapped for Auntie Lucy to hurry back to River Dogs HQ and jumped straight into a taxi. There wasn’t a moment to lose; this Yorkshire Doggy Day Care problem needed to be solved right away, otherwise, we weren’t going to get any sleep at all! After a quick chat with the man in shorts (who was sat eating hobnobs and watching re-runs of Crufts), Auntie Lucy jumped into the passenger seat and we all drove into town.
Betty started barking as soon as we saw the first shop on our list. She nudged open the car door, and we bounded up to the biggest wreath that we’ve ever seen (well…it was about as big as us at any rate, so that’s pretty big!). Catching on to what was going on, Auntie Lucy ran up and helped us to pay the shopkeeper and placed the wreath gently in the boot of her car. At least the outside of the house was going to look festive!
Decorating The House
After picking up a few extra Christmassy bits from the local market (and a quick trip to the pet store for a couple of tasty treats – you can’t work on an empty stomach!), we arrived back at the house and stopped to regroup. What else did we need for our Yorkshire Doggy Day Care Christmas spectacular?
A few minutes passed, and then we both ran upstairs and dived into the Christmas box in the attic. No Christmas is complete without Tinsel, so we came back downstairs and showed Auntie Lucy our new festive costumes. She laughed so hard that we thought that she was having a funny turn, but after a while, she took this great little picture so that we could show you all. What do you think readers; pretty Christmassy, right?
A Job Well Done
Auntie Lucy helped us to remove the tinsel from around our paws and placed it up behind the pictures in our front room (we got the idea from the ducks and their holly!). Then we baked a few gingerbread postmen and postwomen and sat back and enjoyed a nice bowl of mulled wine / coloured water that Auntie Lucy made up for us. Our Yorkshire Doggy Day Care mission was complete, and the perfect Christmas that we’d been searching for was all planned and set up ready for the big day itself. Now all that was left to do was to snooze until Santa Paws came into town, and if there’s one thing that we’re both good at, it’s having a little snooze!
