Doggy Daycare Selby | Doggy Hide And Go Seek
Hey everyone, it’s Maisie here, and welcome to another Doggy Daycare Selby adventure. This time we’re saying goodbye to the River Wharfe and going on a forest trek, playing hide and seek with some of our famous faces that you might have seen from another Doggy Day Care Tadcaster Blog. I pulled the short straw and was picked to find all of my friends, and some of them are incredibly hard to find (especially the ones that already look like a mound of leaves! This is going to be tough!)
Doggy Daycare Selby – The Ultimate Game Of Hide and Go Seek!
It was a wet and windy morning when I pulled my ears over my eyes and counted to 100. I could hear all of my friends scurrying about and picking the best places to hide. I peeked a little bit and saw Seb the Lurcher putting his paws over his face, but the man in shorts showed him a better hiding place and ran off with him into the distance. The game was afoot…or a-paw…you get the idea.
98…99…100! I jumped up and immediately started sniffing the air to try and find my friends. Luckily for me, our Doggy Daycare Selby adventures also included stopping off at a certain delicatessen that stocks a certain ‘Canine Croissant’ that my friend Olly is partial too. I could smell that delicious pastry a mile off and followed my nose to where I deduced he must be hiding.
Olly couldn’t believe that I had found him so quickly and denied all knowledge of the perfect pastry, but the little bit of jam on his lips gave the game away! With one down and three to go, I returned to the hunt and pursued the remaining River Dogs.
The Chase Is On!
The wind picked up a smattering of leaves as I rounded a bend in the lane, my nose barely an inch from the ground (If I could hold a magnifying glass in my paws I’d be just like Sherlock Holmes!) Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that a small mound of leaves had been piled up at the base of a tree. I skulked a little closer and then jumped back in alarm as a beady eye turned and looked right at me from between a gap in the foliage.
“Come out you!”, I called. The pile flew up into the air as Otis rolled out onto the grass and panted with excitement.
“Almost had you there”, Otis called. It was the perfect hiding spot; I guess it pays to look Autumnal when you’re playing hide and seek at this time of year!
“I’ll let you into a little secret”, said Otis. One of us is hiding as still as stone in that field over there. I’d head there now before the wind blows him over.
Now I know getting clues is kind of cheating, but this Doggy Daycare Selby Adventure was getting pretty cold, and I wasn’t going to let my friends beat me at my favourite game! After stopping off and getting a tummy tickle from Helen (every good adventurer needs a pit stop to recharge!), I jumped over the wall like a Kangaroo (they don’t call me ‘Magic Maisie’ for nothing) and landed right in front of Ellie. I prodded her with my paw a couple of times, but she still refused to move (some of the River Dogs take this game very seriously). In the end, the man in shorts had to come to pick her up and run around the block a few times with her until Ellie came to her senses!
Wrapping Up This Doggy Daycare Selby Adventure!
After picking the worst hiding place possible at the very beginning, Seb the Lurcher was the last person that I needed to find. I looked high and low for him, but I couldn’t find him for love nor money! I sniffed the tree trunks and looked under bushes, I even tried chasing my tail to see if I could spot him, but in the end, I had to give up and admit defeat.
The man in shorts looked at me with a smile and beckoned me to follow him. The others followed as we started to walk back to the River Dogs van. It seemed as though we were cutting the Doggy Daycare Selby adventure short and leaving Seb behind! The man in shorts ran the rest of the way and opened the van door, and who should jump out but Seb, a wide cheesy grin spreading over his cheeky little face.
He had been hiding in the van this entire time, the one place I had never thought to look! I patted him on the back and congratulated him on his win; it seems like I might have to hand my crown over to Seb for the time being, but I’ll win it back next time we play. I wonder if I could operate a hot air balloon with my paws; he’d never find me up there!
Thank you for checking out our Doggy Daycare Selby adventures! We might even try and include Hide and Seek in the River Dogs Olympics (now that would be worth watching!)
