Dog School – The River Dogs Are Back In Class!
Hey everyone, and welcome to another brand new River Dogs dog blog! It’s been a busy time here at River Dog’s HQ this past couple of weeks, but then that’s no real surprise. If you’ve walked into any supermarket or stationery store recently, then you’ll know that everyone throughout the land has been getting ready to go back to school. We’re talking new pens, new notepads, and most importantly of all, new uniforms. Well, our four-legged customers have been brushing up on their ‘dog-gebra’ and ‘puppentific’ equations, picking out new ‘paw-cil’ cases and choosing brand new collars and leads to boot. Why? Well, the answer’s simple; the River Dogs are heading back to Dog School for a brand new term!
We’re joining our furry pack of long-eared tykes as they report to headmistress Helen on their first day of the new doggy day care term. The timetable has been set and the dogs are ready to learn, but are the River Dogs team ready to take up the challenge? Let’s find out as we put all four paws to the playground and check out how our puppy pals got on!
Welcome To The Prestigious Tadcaster Private Dog School – What Are The River Dogs Learning Today?
Now I know what you’re thinking; a ‘dog school’ sounds like an establishment for naughty dogs, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Think of this dog school as the Hogwarts of the canine world, a ‘Dogwarts’ if you like, and our little ‘Hairy Potter’s’ are here to learn some of life’s greatest secrets and to brush up on their schoolwork at the same time. In this first lesson, our four-legged friends are learning how to calculate the calorie content of a tasty treat by sniffing out all of the individual ingredients and adding up the different chemical elements, all by using their noses. Now that’s something special!
Ollie excelled at the sniffing masterclass, taking top marks and receiving a first-class class certificate from Professor Lucy at the end of the session. Unfortunately, his left ear seems to have gone missing from his first wizarding lesson straight afterwards. We need to look into sorting that right away!
Breaktime, then Gym Class!
Next up on the agenda is athletics; this is one dog school that is anything but sedentary! Our River Dogs have been working on exercising their bodies and minds today (I find it hard enough to rub my belly and pat my head at the same time, let alone training my mind and body!). This latest exercise, the doggy-door-stretch, will hopefully take over the parallel bars and pommel horse events in the Olympics by 2030; we’ll keep our paws crossed for good news coming from the committee over the next few months.
The one thing that our team of trained teachers find hard when passing on important knowledge in our dog school lessons is the napping. Our furry students just can’t resist sneaking off and finding a warm corner of the snug or hopping up onto the River Dogs sofa for a quick ’40 winks’ in the middle of a class. I think we’ll need to train a little bit harder than this if we want to beat Dogtugal in the next Olympics, guys!
New Kid On The Dog School Block!
Dog school can be tough if you’re a new dog on the block, but luckily the River Dog’s squad are a friendly bunch as our newest recruit Barney has recently found out. He had heard lots of stories about the Springer Squad and the Pointer Patrol before arriving at our daycare centre, and he was starting to ask himself ‘is doggy daycare any good‘? He needn’t have worried one bit; the other dogs love him, and he’s proving to be quite the mathematician!
Sadly, there’s always one student who forgets to do their homework over the holidays. When it came to handing in the coursework that we set on ‘naming incredible dog facts for kids and how dogs are good for our health‘, this cheeky chappy simply stared at us and gave us those world-famous puppy dog eyes. We can’t remember what happened next on account of being subdued by a cuteness overload, but it seems that Duke managed to pass the class regardless. It’s not what you know or who you know, it’s how cute you can look when things go pear shaped that counts!
10 X 4 = Zzzz
Of course, the best part of the day has to be the mandatory scheduled nap time (as opposed to all of the impromptu ones that our students take when we’re not looking). The dog school day might not be very long, but it’s crammed full of information and exciting tasks, so there’s no surprise that everyone needs a little rest come lunchtime. Sleep it off guys, you’ve earnt it!
There you have it, folks! Thank’s for taking a dive into our very first day of the River Dogs dog school term, We hope that your furry friends enjoyed their lessons and that they all remember to bring their P.E kits with them next time (we don’t want to have to shave numbers into their fur again!).
Why not stick around and check out some of our other Doggy Day Care Tadcaster Blog entries! Check out these useful puppy training exercises, or maybe take a look at what happened when a spy infiltrated a doggy care near me!
