Dachshund Diaries – The Greatest ‘Tail’ Of All
Hello everyone, and welcome to a very special edition of the River Dogs Dog Blogs – The Dachshund Diaries! We’ve taken over while the Springer Squad is out on patrol and are going to treat you to what we like to call ‘The Greatest Tail Of All’ (Sophie’s very proud of that play on words!).
So without further ado, let’s begin!
The Greatest Tail Of All – Sophie’s Extract From The Dachshund Diaries
Panic has struck the River Dogs Camp. When once we were three, now we are two! The Dashing Dachshunds of Tadcaster are renowned for being the smallest and cutest team on the block, but people won’t recognise us if there’s only two of us! Wait, let me explain what has got me so upset.
This morning when we got into River Dogs, Frankie, Norman and I all made for our comfortable beds, where we had a little catch-up about what we’d got up to and what we had planned for the day ahead. Now it’s not that my friends are boring or that they waffle on or anything, but I started to drift off to sleep and found myself dreaming about walking on big stilts and flying high in the sky – a little dog can dream!
I woke up around half an hour later to find that Norman had fallen asleep too – we’re only little, we need a lot of sleep! This, readers, is where the Dachshund Diaries get scary. I woke up to stretch my legs and wandered over to see Frankie…but he had disappeared!
The ‘Dachshunt’ Is On!
I was beside myself with worry; where could Frankie have gone? If it wasn’t for Norman I think I would have run off to the man in shorts in a complete panic, but Norman calmed me down and told me that we’d find Frankie if we kept our cool and worked together. I quickly realised that he was right, and together we set about searching for our missing friend.
We knew it was going to be a race against the clock if we were going to find Frankie before dinner time, so we had a quick scout around the play area to see if he was playing with his favourite ball or hiding underneath the sofa. We even climbed up a stool to see if he was on Ronda’s shelf, but her bed laid cold and unoccupied. With the plot thickening like yummy treacle, we stepped out into the yard.
A Family Reunion
We spoke to our friends as they sunned themselves in the yard, but they hadn’t seen Frankie either. I even asked a passing bird if she had seen Frankie running around in the streets outside, but she hadn’t seen any sign of him since the last mat-surfing competition. I was just about to give up all hope when the nice lady that tickles our ears came over and beckoned for us to follow her.
Still worried about our missing friend, we followed her right back to the beds that we had been sleeping in those few hours before and stopped by a purple blanket on the floor. Puzzled, I moved over to check it out jumped back in surprise when it started to move The nice lady laughed and pulled back the blanket to reveal Frankie, still sound asleep! He had hidden underneath the blanket as a joke but fallen asleep when he got tired of waiting for us to wake up! “That’s one for the Dachshund Diaries”, the lady said, before tickling our tummies and going off to do the paperwork.
Getting The Gang Back Together
After we had barked at Frankie for scaring us and then laughed about how silly he had been, we all took a trip out into the yard to enjoy the sun with our friends. The Dashing Dachshund team is still as strong as ever, and this episode of the Dachshund Diaries didn’t end in heartache after all! I guess it goes to show that you should always take care of your friends and let each other know where you are at all times…and that we Dachshunds need lots of sleep if we’re going to try and prank each other!
Thank you for checking out the first ever edition of the Dachshund Diaries, and I hope that you drop back again real soon to read about more of our crazy capers and nail-biting tales.
